SKS Welding Systems would like to introduce the new DCT power source LSQ5. The LSQ5 is a further development of the LSQ4 with new functions, which are described below.

General features

The LSQ5 power source features the following characteristics:
  • Includes all functions of the LSQ4 power source
  • Fully compatible to existing systems
  • No changes to other welding components necessary when replacing a LSQ4 with a LSQ5 power source
  • Dimensions and technical data identical to power source LSQ4
  • Replacement possible without adjustment of welding programs and parameters
  • Also available with field bus interface

New features of the LSQ5

The power source offers the following new features:
  • External switch for selection of line voltage:
    - Easy installation
    - Easy operation with different line voltages
  • External switching of operational modes

Line voltage

The operating line voltage is 360-440V for the 400V setting and 432V-528V for the 480V setting.
The switch for choosing line voltage is locked against unintentional usage.


Programming/Setting

The LSQ5 service panel contains 4 LED and 2 pushbuttons (ENTER, SELECT). The LED serve as status information during welding mode, as extended alarm information and to display the current settings. These settings can be changed with the pushbuttons. The settings include system type (flag A), welding process (flab B) and the type of welding control (flag C). Flag D is currently unassigned.
  • The system type (A) specifies if the power source is part of a single system or a twin system (like e.g. twin wire or share power). In twin systems the power source can act as master or slave.
  • Welding process (B) specifies MIG/MAG or TIG process configuration of the power source.
  • System (C) sets the type of welding control (Q8p/LSP4, Q8i, Q8, LSP). This allows previous welding control versions to be used.


Conclusion

The external setting possibilities (switch for line voltage selection and service panel) enable easier and more flexible usage of the power source. Opening the power source for changing its configuration is no longer required.
