The checking fixture as a tool

Using the checking fixture, the TCP of a torch system (consisting of safety clutch, torch arm and torch neck) or an individual torch neck can be verified. The reproducibility of the TCP plays a critical role for automated arc welding. To make sure that this criterion is maintained after a torch neck has been changed, the TCP may be verified with respect to a predefined control point. The subsequent adjustment of torch necks has not been considered for the production of checking fixtures. Depending on the process speed, “slight” contacts during programming have only little impact on the system’s dimensional accuracy. However, if “violent” collisions should occur, it is recommended to verify the whole torch system and, if required, replace individual components. Torch necks are not consumables. Because of our modular system concept and the possibility to combine our torch necks with different torch systems, a whole range of checking fixtures are required.
