Concept 2020: Developed for Industry 4.0
Welding has a long tradition – from manual welding to fully automated welding technology. Thinking about welding, people have always imagined a lot of dirt and smoke. This kind of image could be corrected by the digitalization of welding parameters. The continuous improvement of process control paves the way to ever cleaner welding cells.
The advent of modern factories and concepts such as “Industry 4.0”, “Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)” and “Industry 2025” offer a variety of possibilities to make welding even more efficient. As early as 2007, SKS and their technology partners already developed an application that would range under the heading “Industry 4.0” today. The application involves an interface that was created using a newly developed communication protocol to communicate with the robot.
The robot transmits the current welding speed to the welding system, which adjusts the parameters fully automated: this is SYNCHROWELD.
SKS takes this one step further now. A welding system with more than 20 years backward compatibility provided the basis for the development of a new welding machine concept: Concept 2020. This concept will be able to meet the future requirements to new Industry 4.0 production concepts with regard to communication, integration and usability. In addition to this, it will feature – as the current SKS welding technology generation – a future-proof design.
